KICK! is back
February 23, 2004
Just a reminder to everyone attending the South by Southwest Interactive Festival next month, the annual kickball game KICK! is returning for the third year. The game will be on Saturday, March 13, at 11:30a. Our location is Palm Park, the same as last year.
Be sure to pass the word on to everyone you know who'll be at SXSW this year, and we'll see you at the game.

I can’t wait to pitch half the game, and the wake up on Sunday with a sore ass.
Anil
Yeah, it’s the half of Saturday that you’re not pitching that leaves you with a sore ass on Sunday.
Betsy Devine
Kickball? What a great idea! I volunteer to create the game’s RSS feed….
Anil
Thanks, Betsy, but KICK! has two syndication feeds, RSS and Atom. Hope to see you at the game!

Does it make me the biggest nerd at SXSWi if I admit that I have no idea what Kickball is, and never heard of it until I saw it mentioned here in reference to SXSW 2003?
Anybody have a link to Kickball for Dummies?
Andrew
Woohoo! Can’t wait to play.
warms up by kicking ground.
Anil
Michael, don’t worry if you’re not familiar with kickball, I just put up a link to the rules of kickball on the KICK! site.

Oh man, sorry about that. I’ll be gentle this year.

I’m not so obsessively attached to my camera now, so I might be willing to put it down instead of trying to catch the oscillating red rubber bladder with my left arm and chin.
Leia
Can I keep score again this year?
James
The best thing about this game is that nobody ever plays it in between SXSWs. So, just like the rest of you, I’m no better at the game than I was last year. There’s something pure about that. Technology changes, but Kick! will always be about a bunch of smart people looking stupid.
Kevin
James is right. We basically all chase the ball around and watch Benton and Wasilyk play. I play first base because it is the position with the most action and the least running.
Michael Moncur
Anil, thanks for the rules link. It makes much more sense now. I’ll be there and maybe even play… I guess I have two weeks to exercise something other than my typing fingers.
